The Biography of Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov was born in Ukraine, but his family moved to Brooklyn, New York in United States of America when he was just 10 years old. He studied in a Russian speaking Jewish school where he enrolled in the 5th standard, though he was supposed to study in the 7th standard. He studied in the school with his cousin, but he found it highly difficult to adjust there. Later he got admitted to a public school where he finally found his deserving success.

As a teenager, he was very active in sporting activities. He took part in many sports namely basketball, tennis, and he even joined the school bowling team. Then he registered in the Stern School of Business at New York University where he achieved two degrees. At first, he took up trading as his job, and he used to play poker with his friends just for fun. Then he started to play poker on a regular basis along with his day job. It is around this time that he took up poker as an easy way of income for paying off his bills. Gradually, he turned his interest into a flourishing career.

Eugene Katchalov started his career with participating in online poker tournaments and then by the year 2003, he announced himself to be a professional poker player. He entered the Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas on the insistence of a friend and stood 5th. He entered the World Poker Tour Main Event collaborating with the same friend and soon found exposure to the top level of the game. He earned 48 thousand dollars from the tournament which covered all his expenses.

He was completely engrossed in the game of poker and was not able to work in the shadow of a big company where he lacked independence. Thus he decided to open an independent trading firm where he will not be bound. For this purpose, he used poker as a tool for collecting the capital needed to start the firm. The firm was the gate way to independence for Eugene Katchalov, which will enable him to dedicate more time to the game of poker.

2007 was a golden year for this sensational poker maestro. He started off his campaign with the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Tour Classic where he achieved victory, and he followed this performance with victories in all the tournaments he took part in the Belliago in that season. He rounded off his year by winning the Full Tilt tournament in Vegas, which saw him win the 119 thousand dollars prize money. This money acted as the capital for Eugene Katachalov and his partner for opening the independent firm they dreamt of.

World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) was the next stop for this highly talented poker player, and he conquered this event too winning a bracelet as the prize. The poker career of Eugene Katchalov has some very important highlights. One of the most important events in his career came when he won the World Poker Tour (WPT) title along with nearly 2.5 million dollars of prize money defeating poker greats like Raymond Davis and David Ulliott. Then he competed in the High Roller event on the European Poker Tour (EPT) London where he was placed 3rd. He recently competed in the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure High Roller Event and won it comprehensively.

Eugene Katchalov is a poker genius who has conquered the game with his intelligence and strategic mind. He was signed by pokerstars as a permanent member of their team. He is indeed a truly extraordinary poker champion.

Barry Greenstein

Barry Greenstein was no different from other poker players when he started his career. His principal object then was to run behind money and to make it the source to livelihood. Many years after ward he used the same game to help others who never had his privileges.

Greenstein’s father taught him the tricks associated with playing poker when he was a young boy and it stayed with him that way into his middle age and later years. He was educated at The University of Illinois College in Urbana, Champaign. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and studied mathematics too. After his graduation, Greenstein who also played poker then, turned into a professional player.

A few years afterward, his desire to care for his stepchildren brought Greenstein unwillingly came back to a regular life of work. He called it off a day after having worked for Symantec until 1991. Even while working for Symantec, he continued with his passion; poker. The fact, that he could make more money in poker, rather than his job, and still devote more time for his family, weighed in favor of his quitting his job at Symantec.

Greenstein has the reputation for being one of the toughest cash game player on earth, both under Limit and No limit Hold Em. Greenstein pocketed the Million Dollar Seven Card Stud Tournament at the Larry Flynt Poker Challenge Cup in 2003. This tournament gave him $770,000 in prize money.

It was about this time he built a reputation for becoming a philanthropist. A major part of the money he won went to Children Incorporated and that was when he made it a habit to donate all tournament earnings to this organization. Greenstein’s prize money from WPT World Poker Open in 2004 was $1.27 million which he made it over entirely to Children Incorporated. That was when Greenstein was nicknamed “Robin Hood of Poker.”

In 2006 Greenstein took the decision to peg down his charitable donations to his profit levels, which was not the case till2006. This was inevitable due to the big expenses involved in Tournament poker which had grown too big by then and he had to make provision for losses as well.

Greenstein’s total earnings from poker were $7.2 million in his career span. On top of his earnings he has to his credit 2 WPT tiles and 3 gold bracelets from WSOP. Greenstein can seldom be missed in the big time cash games at the Bobby’s Room in Las Vegas. World Poker Tour, High Stakes Poker, ESPN, the WSOP and Poker After Dark are some of the televised poker shows in which Greenstein was seen.

There are few professionals who can match Barry Greenstein capable of playing tournaments and cash games alike at the top. There is nothing that he has still left for achievement, and soon, in a couple of years at the most, will be lock at the Hall of Fame. His gestures, particularly the philanthropic endeavors are significantly changing the lives everywhere. Whether it is at the poker table or in life, Greenstein is apparently a winner.

David Peat Biography

David Peat is widely considered as one of the better players that the highstakes poker arena has seen in quite a while. He was initially a residentof Ohio and moved to Las Vegas about eight years back with a view toparticipate in professional poker. Daniel Negreanu Biography

Poker has gone a long way from the dark dingy corners of clubs and casinos to a positively valid sport phenomenon in the recent years. And there is no denying that Daniel Negreanu is one of the biggest poker players in the game today; but beyond his keen eye and sharp skills with cards, who is Daniel Negreanu?

It is no secret that Negreanu burst onto the tournament poker scene in 1997 after successfully winning three tournaments, including two at the World’s Poker Finals. He was also named the tournament’s best all-around player. Born to Parents who fled from Romania during the Communist regime and schooled in the pool halls and card rooms of Toronto, Canada, he originally wanted to become a professional pool player, but soon found the cards calling his name. At the sweet age of 16, he was hustling in pool halls, and this led him to drop out of high school a few credits short of a diploma. He honed his skills by playing at the local charity casinos, looking for illicit tournaments he could join.

He moved to Las Vegas at the age of 22 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional poker player. However, he was forced to return to Toronto after his unsuccessful first foray. This, however, did not dissuade him in the least; instead, he rebuilt his bank roll and broke through eventually. He is now married and currently lives in Nevada.

Negreanu is truly a phenomenal poker player and has one of the best World Series records of any player, and he has also won more money than any other player on the World Poker Tour. He earned the coveted gold bracelet at the young age of 23 back in 1998, bringing home $169,460. Four years after, he would go on to win his second bracelet after besting in the SHOE event, netting $100,440 He also finished second in the $3,000 No Limit Holdem that same year. Negreanu is an avid blogger; he posts his thoughts and feelings about different things in life, politics & the poker world .In fact, he has such strong and influential views on poker that he is often consulted on the big issues by the sports governing bodies. He also serves as an ambassador to the game, tirelessly promoting it all over the world through appearances and books. Being modest and open to sharing his gifts, he also mentors other players and appears in the poker media as a commentator and summarizer. He is also known to be a hockey fanatic. He is often seen wearing NHL jerseys of the Toronto Maple Leafs. An interesting anecdote on this is that he once claimed he almost begged off a tournament because it would fall in the middle of Hockey season.

Daniel Negreanu has also appeared on TV as himself in various reality series, National Geographics Sport Science as well as a music video of Katy Perry and X-Men Origins: Wolverine Movie. Negreanu is also a philanthropist ; aside from frequent appearances in charity events, he is also a founder of various charities in support of various causes such as war-torn Darfur . Most prominent of his projects is the Big Swing Charity golf Tournament, where proceeds go directly to charitable causes. All these things make Daniel Negreanu a celebrity worth looking up to. His achievements as the best player in the game and skills on and off the table are a sight to behold, but his philanthropic spirit remains to be one of his best qualities.
